The Capitol Heights Middle School (CHMS) Library Media Center supplies educational material that supplements and strengthens the curriculum. The staff's goal is to prepare students for life-long learning, instill a love of reading, and teach the ability to find, use, and evaluate information effectively.

Check Out Policies

Students may check out ONE book for a two week period. Books must be read and renewed or checked in by the due date. Students who lose or damage books beyond repair will be charged the replacement cost of the book.

General Rules

1. Students may come to the library to research, quiz, check out and/or return materials; provided they have a pass from their teacher, no research classes are in session, and staff is available to assist them.

2. No gum, candy, food or drinks are allowed in the library

3. All school rules will be obeyed

4. No talking out, unnecessary roaming, or disturbing others

5. Respect all library properties

Computer Station

Although most computer usage will be conducted in the computer lab room 118 and 219, students are encouraged to use the computers in the library to aid their research for classroom assignments. Students are strongly encouraged to bring jump drive/flash drive to the library to save any or all portions of their document(s) or to utilize their google drive account.

We have Internet access and basic programs for word processing, power point presentations, and publishing. Students and parents must sign an Acceptable Use Policy, found in the student handbook, and an Internet Use Agreement in order to use the Internet at CHMS! Students must sign in on the computer log and are monitored while using the computers.
